CarePal

Terms of Service

Last updated October 14, 2026

CarePal is a money manager you text over iMessage. Right now CarePal is invite only: you can join the waitlist, and we'll text you when a spot opens. These terms are the agreement between you and us. The short version: CarePal is free to use while it is in this invite-only stage, it only does what you allow, money never moves without your approval, and you can stop it anytime.

Who we are and who can use CarePal

CarePal is run by Oak Bay Technologies ("CarePal," "we," "us"). By joining the waitlist, texting CarePal or using CarePal, you agree to these terms, our SMS Terms and our Privacy policy.

  • You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live, if higher).
  • You must live in the United States or Canada. CarePal's money features (bank, credit, loan offers and payments) are built for US accounts, so some of them may not work for you if you live elsewhere.
  • You may use CarePal only for your own money and accounts, or for someone else's if you have their permission and the legal right to act for them.
  • The information you give us must be true, and you're responsible for keeping your phone and accounts secure.

The waitlist

CarePal isn't open to everyone yet. Here's how the waitlist works today:

  • You join with your phone number. That's all we ask for at this stage.
  • You text "hey CarePal" to CarePal's number. CarePal replies once to say you're on the list. After that, CarePal won't answer your messages until it lets you in.
  • When a spot opens, CarePal texts you a link to finish signing up, where we ask for your full name. CarePal's other features start only after that.
  • Text STOP at any time to leave. CarePal won't text you again.
  • Being on the waitlist doesn't guarantee a spot, or a spot by any date.

What CarePal does

Once you're in, CarePal is an AI money manager you talk to by text. Depending on what you ask and what you connect, it can help you:

  • dispute charges that look wrong, and get fees refunded;
  • find subscriptions you're paying for, and cancel the ones you don't want;
  • find money you may be owed, like unclaimed property held by a government, and class-action settlements you may qualify for, and get the claim ready for you to file;
  • watch your credit report and loans, alert you to changes, and plan how to pay down debt;
  • see loan and credit card offers that could save you money;
  • track your spending and set budgets;
  • set up money workflows, like "save $50 every payday" or "tell me if dining goes over $300 this month";
  • pay and request money from friends;
  • and handle easy everyday asks, like reminders or quick research.

CarePal reaches companies by email, through their websites or online chat, or with a letter or complaint it drafts for you. It keeps a record of what it did for you, which you can ask to see at any time.

What CarePal doesn't do

  • Phone calls only with your approval. CarePal may phone a company for you only after you approve that call. It doesn't take calls for you.
  • Medical-bill review only. CarePal can organize a bill, itemized bill or EOB, point out documented differences, explain possible next steps and prepare wording for you to review. It does not give medical or legal advice, decide whether you should pay, represent you, negotiate a claim or appeal, or send health information without your explicit approval.
  • No investment advice. CarePal isn't a financial, investment or tax adviser. It doesn't recommend buying or selling stocks or other securities, and it doesn't manage investments. What it tells you about money is general information, and the decisions are yours.
  • Not a credit repair organization. CarePal doesn't sell credit repair, and it never charges you to improve your credit. Nobody can legally remove accurate, up-to-date information from your credit report. If something on your report is wrong, you can dispute it with the credit bureau yourself, for free, and CarePal can help you understand how.
  • Not a lender, bank or law firm. CarePal doesn't lend money, hold your money or make credit decisions. It doesn't give legal advice or represent you in court or before an agency.
  • No guaranteed results. Companies, banks, lenders, credit bureaus and governments make their own decisions. CarePal can't promise any refund, savings, approval, payout or credit score change. Examples we show, including in our ads and demos, don't predict your results.
  • CarePal isn't an emergency service. For an emergency, call 911.

Credit monitoring

  • If you connect your credit, CarePal gets your credit report and score through Spinwheel with a soft pull, which doesn't affect your credit score. It checks again from time to time so it can tell you about changes.
  • The score CarePal shows comes from one credit bureau and may differ from the scores lenders use. Credit bureaus don't publish exactly why a score moves, so CarePal's explanations are its best reading of your report, not a certainty.
  • Alerts can be late or miss things, because they depend on what the bureaus and your bank report and when. CarePal is not a substitute for checking your own reports.

Loan and card offers

  • CarePal can show you loan and credit card offers from Engine by MoneyLion and its lending partners. CarePal shows an offer only when its own math says it could save you money, and it shows that math.
  • CarePal may earn a referral fee from Engine by MoneyLion if you take a loan or get a card through an offer. That can affect which offers appear and their order. Getting offers is free, and they aren't every offer available.
  • Before CarePal asks for loan offers, it shows you exactly what will be shared with Engine by MoneyLion, and nothing is sent unless you agree on that page. Engine and its partners may check your credit with a soft pull. If you then apply with a lender, the lender may do a hard pull, which can affect your score.
  • The lender decides whether to approve you and on what terms. Your agreement for any loan or card is with the lender, not with CarePal.

CarePal acts for you, within limits you set

When you ask CarePal to handle something, you allow it to act for you on that task only: to contact the company, explain your request and share the details needed for it. When CarePal writes to a company for you, it says it's writing on your behalf. It never pretends to be you.

  • You decide what needs your approval. CarePal asks before anything that commits you, like cancelling a service, accepting an offer or sending a message in your name, unless you've told it it may handle that kind of thing on its own. You can change that anytime.
  • Money never moves without your approval, every time. Every payment or transfer, including ones started by a workflow you set up, needs your confirmation (for example, with Face ID). No setting turns this off, and each approval works once, for exactly what you saw.
  • Be honest in disputes and claims. Only ask CarePal to dispute charges you honestly believe are wrong, and only claim settlements or unclaimed money you believe you're entitled to. CarePal gets settlement and unclaimed-money claims ready, but you file them yourself on the official site, and you should agree to a claim form's statement only if it's true for you.
  • You can stop it anytime. Tell CarePal to stop a task, take back a permission, or text STOP to end all messages. Something already done with a company (like a cancellation it confirmed) or a payment already sent may not be reversible.
  • You're responsible for the choices you approve and for telling CarePal if something it has on file is wrong. If a company asks for something only you can provide (like a code sent to your phone), CarePal will ask you.

Moving money

Payments and transfers, like moving money between your own accounts, paying a card or loan, or paying or requesting money from a friend, are processed by Dwolla, a licensed payment processor. To use them, you'll need to verify your identity with Dwolla and agree to Dwolla's terms. CarePal doesn't hold your money: it goes directly from one bank account to another through Dwolla.

  • Bank transfers take time to arrive, and once sent they often can't be cancelled. Check the amount and the person before you approve.
  • Only pay or request money from people you know, and only for real reasons. Don't use CarePal to send money to someone you haven't met.
  • Your bank may charge its own fees (for example, if a transfer leaves your account short).

Price: the subscription

CarePal will be a monthly subscription for your household. Subscriptions aren't open yet: nothing is charged until they open and you choose to subscribe on Stripe's secure page.

  • Family: $39.99 a month for up to 4 people.
  • Premium: $399 a month for up to 4 people, with lower success-fee rates (below).
  • On either plan, each extra person with their own CarePal account is $10 a month, added or removed automatically as your household changes.
  • One person pays for the whole household. You can change plans or cancel any time from your subscription page.

Price: the success fee

CarePal's success-fee program is not currently available. We will not ask you to agree to a success fee, save a card, or charge you a success fee while it is unavailable. Our proposed rates, definitions and examples are on the proposed success-fee schedule page. It is informational only and is not part of a current payment agreement.

  • Before any future program starts, we will publish final terms and pricing and give notice. If you choose to use it, you will see the savings, fee and net savings in dollars before agreeing to that particular case.
  • Any future agreement will be separate from these terms, tied to a specific case and require your explicit approval. A Face ID approval or a receipt calculation will not, by itself, authorize a card charge.
  • Many things are always free, like alerts, reading your accounts, and asking your card company or broker for a lower rate.

Proposed rates, on the part of a win above each kind's free amount. On the Premium plan every rate is 40% of the normal one, rounded down to a whole percent; the free amounts are the same on both plans.

  • Money back: 20% on Family, 8% on Premium, above $100.
  • Lower bill: 25% on Family, 10% on Premium, above $200 of first-year savings.
  • Cheaper insurance: 15% on Family, 6% on Premium, above $200 of first-year savings.
  • Cheaper prescription: 10% on Family, 4% on Premium, above $200 of first-year savings.
  • Property tax appeal: 25% on Family, 10% on Premium, above $300 of first-year savings.
  • Repair quote: 15% on Family, 6% on Premium, above $100.
  • Rent: 20% on Family, 8% on Premium, above $500 of first-year savings.
  • Medical bill: 25% on Family, 10% on Premium, above $500.

Separately, CarePal may earn referral fees from partners, as explained under "Loan and card offers" above.

Texts and messaging

By joining the waitlist or texting CarePal, you agree to get text messages from CarePal over iMessage (or SMS, where we offer it). Our SMS Terms explain what we send, how often, and how to stop. Message and data rates may apply. Text STOP to stop. Agreeing to get texts isn't a condition of buying anything.

Your accounts and connected services

You choose what to connect, and you can disconnect anytime. CarePal works with other companies to provide its features, including Plaid (your bank), Spinwheel (your credit report and loans), Engine by MoneyLion (loan and card offers), Dwolla (payments), Composio (your Google account: Gmail and Google Calendar) and Photon (iMessage). When you connect a service, you allow CarePal to use it for the purposes described in our Privacy policy and on the page where you connected it.

Those companies run their services under their own terms, which you may also need to accept. We're not responsible for their availability, accuracy or actions. You confirm you have the right to connect each account you link.

AI outputs

CarePal uses AI models. They can make mistakes, misunderstand a request or describe something inaccurately. Amounts, approvals and records shown to you come from our systems, not from the AI's wording, but please check anything important before you rely on it, especially before approving something. Don't use CarePal as a substitute for professional legal, tax or financial advice.

What you agree not to do

  • Use CarePal for anything illegal, fraudulent or deceptive, including false disputes, chargebacks or claims.
  • Ask CarePal to act for someone without their permission, or to harass, threaten or impersonate anyone.
  • Give false information to companies, lenders or governments through CarePal.
  • Try to get around approvals, Face ID or security checks, or break, overload or reverse-engineer the service.
  • Use CarePal to send spam, or to buy tickets or goods in bulk with bots.
  • Resell CarePal or use it to offer a competing service.

Privacy

Our Privacy policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. We never sell your data.

Leaving, and ending your access

You can stop using CarePal anytime. On the waitlist, text STOP, or email us to delete your number. Once you're in, use the Account page to request closure. CarePal stops new work right away and closes the account after a 30-day pending-close period. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if your use creates risk for you, others or us, or if the law requires it. The sections on disclaimers, liability, indemnity and disputes still apply after your access ends.

Disclaimers

CarePal is provided "as is" and "as available." To the extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We don't promise that CarePal will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that it will get any particular result. Some places don't allow these disclaimers, so they may not all apply to you.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim about CarePal is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US $100. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, including your rights under the consumer protection laws where you live.

Indemnity

If someone makes a claim against us because you broke these terms, broke the law or gave false information through CarePal, you agree to cover our reasonable losses and costs from that claim, to the extent the law allows.

Problems and disputes

If you have a problem with CarePal, please email us first at hello@getmotis.com. Most issues can be fixed quickly. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the consumer protection laws where you live.

Changes to these terms

We'll update these terms as CarePal changes, and we'll change the date at the top when we do. If a change is significant, we'll tell you before it takes effect. If you keep using CarePal after that, the new terms apply.
